Urbain Aubé, tanneur, the Land of the Remembered and the Land of the Forgotten

Final post on my latest compulsive research…

I always travel back in time to look for people in the Land of the Forgotten.

1852 famille Urbain Aubé

1852 Canadian census

In 1852, Urbain Aubé was a tanner in Beloeil, Quebec. He was 36 years-old, and was married to Lucil (Lucille) Trudeau who was 38 years-old.

The children were as follows…

Lucie, 11

Philomène, 10

Marie, 7

Émilie, 4

Alphonsine, 2

Lucie Aubé would later marry Adelphis Spaulding. Do you remember those two names?

Nine years later, Urbain Aubé was still living in Beloeil with his wife and two children, Alphonsine and Alphonse, and Lucille’s parents, Antoine Trudeau and Marie Dufault.

1861 Alphonse Aubé

Lucie Aubé had married Adelphis Spaulding in 1860, and Philomène Aubé had married Hilaire Benoit also in 1860. Émilie would married Napoléon Jolet in 1865.

I found nothing on Marie nor on Alphonsine.

Alphonse would later marry Elisabeth Leclerc, probably around 1878, and have at least three children: Lucie (1879), Walter (1891) and Clarence (1896).

You remember Alphonse Aubey don’t you?

You are probably now tired of reading all this and looking at dead people who were in the Land of the Forgotten.

That’s the reason I want to write shorter posts whenever possible.

In 1880, Urbain Aubé and Lucie Trudeau were living with the Spaulding family.

Dead people?

Land of the Remembered from the Book of Life…

I just had to look…

I just had to look for Urbain Aubé’s family and little Alphonse last Sunday morning.

The problem was not looking for them, but to stop looking for other unknown people I had  found along the way.

The only thing I could find about Alphonse Aubé was this Alphonse Aubey in Rhode Island in 1910.

1910 U.S. census

Were all these people related?

Alphonse Aubey, 58, a widower, born in Canada, a boarder in Paul Blais’ home.

1910 Alphonse Aubey

Who was Clarence Aubey, boarder, male, 13, born in Rhode Island?

1910 Alphonse Aubey

Alphonse’s son?

Who was Lucy Aubey, daughter, female, 31, born in New York?

1910 Alphonse Aubey

Alphonse’s daughter?

The key to this enigma was Maria Blais, wife, female, 42, born in Canada…

Stay tuned…if you’re the curious type.

I have no idea who is Arthur Lefoley…

Are you the curious type?

When I found my fourth great-grandmother Marie Dufault and my fourth great-father Antoine Trudeau, I just had to look for Urbain Aubé’s family and little Alphonse.

All were living in the same house.

1861 Sault Ste MarieWhen you start looking at who were listed, you feel a sudden urge to look into what happened later in life to these people… like little Alphonse Aubé who was 8 years-old in 1861…or his father Urbain Aubé for that matter.

Alphonse’s mother was my third grandaunt Lucille Trudeau who married Urbain Aubé. I had found myself two more lost first cousins four times removed, Alphonsine and Alphonse Aubé.

What happened later in life to Alphonse?

He got married and fathered children. Who did he marry? How many children did they have. Where did he live? Where did he die?

To be continued if you are the curious type.
