Welcome home Louisiana… Prairie Soileau

How I got carried away about this spin-off blog when I heard the kind of music played in Prairie Soileau…

Our Ancestors

Post No. 2

You have certainly read my article on Doris Chaumont’s visit to Ste-Anne-des-Plaines…

If you did not then click on the link just above.

Doris asked me if I could translate the article I wrote in my French blog Nos Ancêtres…

She told me Seeburn Chaumont could not read French, so I translated it in English.

Since people in Louisiana are so excited about the Chaumonts living here in Ste-Anne-des-Plaines and elsewhere in Canada, I have decided to create an English version of my blog  just for the Chaumonts in Louisiana.

So here we go… with my first article.

If you live in Louisiana, I guess you know where I took part of my title for my article.

I know people here in Ste-Anne-des-Plaines had not a faintess idea.

So I wrote this article for them in French

Now listen and start dancing…

A most welcome visit to Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines

I could have waited until September 25th to reblog this, but I  felt  too nostalgic  this Friday morning.

This is my very  first post on this blog which led me to write Ripples last  time…

This is a true story. Doris had asked me in September 2009 to translate what I had written on Nos ancêtres, my original blog about genealogy which is written  in French.

Our Ancestors

Post No. 1

Doris Chaumont is an amateur genealogist.

She’s the daughter of Léopold Chaumont who is the son of Rolland Chaumont, the son of Joseph Chaumont.

I had talked about Doris in an article on my blog about genealogy.

The man in the picture is Joseph Chaumont. He’s Doris’ great-grandfather. Joseph Chaumont left Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines  around 1910.

This picture was taken in 1923 in Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines. Doris’ grandfather, Rolland Chaumont, is the little boy behind Joseph.

Joseph Chaumont came here with his small family from Earlton in Ontario to pay a visit to his parents.

First I thought it was for his parents’ anniversary, but Moïse Chaumont and Marguerite Desjardins got married in 1880. I don’t see why people would celebrate their 43rd wedding anniversary…

This is the famous picture I had posted before on my blog. The picture was taken in 1923…

What is funny is that I never reflected on this.

This blog is all about ripples in space and time.

From this first picture on this blog…

Just let’s call it a hobby… – Jeannette Ida Lamothe – Redux

I never had someone writing  me on this blog about the Lamothes.Frank Ritchie - Hector Lamothe - Levi Napoleon Lagasse - ? - ? - Ida and Odna Lagasse

They ought to because I can trace their roots for free.

Loyal readers know all about Ida Lagasse I had mistaken in 2011 for Odna Lagasse whom I had called Edna.

Not Edna, not even Odna…Ida!

Honest mistake…

Ida Lagasse married Hector Philias Lamothe who I thought had married this handsome man seen here.

wrong Hector

Honest mistake…

Ida (Aunt Ida) was there in the front row.

Wrong Hector was also seen in different old pictures as well as Aunt Ida.

Honest I did.

Our Ancestors

You are in front of your computer and you are searching for some ancestors.

comp018Ida Laga…
Darn! How do they spell Lagacé?

Let’s say Ida Lagasse or Ida Lagasse Lamothe or Ida Lagassee Lamoth or Ida Lagassey Lamott… married to Hector Lamothe.

Whatever…

You probably won’t get much results on Google.

Google Ida LagasseApart from Ida – Flyer.ca or Ida at Amazon, your attention will probably get directed to my blog and start wondering what’s this blog is all about.

Having to read more than 500 posts by someone who seems a bit carried away by his ancestors and some old pictures might be a deterrent.

Unless you’re a curious person and you look at this picture.

556630_3899069589782_1630704891_nI have a theory who these people are and when that picture was taken…

Ida who?

Ida file

Now just try to Google Odna Lagasse…

You will see what I mean.
