January 27, 1851 in St-Polycarpe, Quebec

Ron wrote this comment this week…

WOW !

It’s amazing isn’t it Pierre what one little piece of paper may hold secret till someone takes notice.

The only other question I would wonder would be, was Fabien born in Ste-Anne and did he and my great-grandfather Leon go to school and grow up together there also?

Ron

Fabien Sauvé dit Laplante birth certificate

Nope…

Final answer Ron…

Fabien Sauvé was born on January 26, 1851, in St-Polycarpe, Quebec.

Even if he is baptised Joseph Fabien Laplante, we know that’s the guy.

I should know…

Fabien Sauvé dit Laplante is my second cousin three times removed, and I am dead sure we never went to school and grew up together.

And on December 25, 1913, Fabien Sauvé and Sophie André were surely very proud of their godchild Joseph Euclide Depatie.

It’s amazing isn’t it Pierre what one little piece of paper
may hold secret till someone takes notice.

Final chapter

Ron Depatie would have never thought that his simple question about Joseph Euclide Depatie, the son of Léon Dépatie and Sophronie André, would trigger some kind of genealogical tsunami.

Tuna what…?

You never know down the long and winding road of genealogy what might come up.

It’s just like Odette Clouthier and Denis Cloutier who found a far distant cousin, or Mac (Mary Alice) who found someone as crazy as she thinks she is, even though she’s not that crazy after all…

Anyways…

Tomorrow is my birthday so I have to finish up this soap opera and start something new on New Year’s Day.

So I figure this…

Obéline or Eveline Lanthier, Fabien’s second wife, died when she gave birth to her last child Lucia.

Fabien had 11 children to take care of back in 1897.

He had to find a new wife.

In the 1901 Canadian census, Lucia is said to have been born on July 14, 1897.

We know that “Lola” has to be Sophie André and that Honora is most probably an error on the enumerator part and is in fact little Honoré Sauvé.

Fabien Sauvé married his third wife Sophie André on September 21, 1897.

That’s two months after Lucia’s birth.

We must then safely assume Eveline died when she gave birth.

Little Lucia Sauvé would go on her life and marry Jean-Baptiste Levac in 1917.

I wish I had a group photo of their marriage to show you all these people… Fabien, Sophie, Honoré, Albert, Alfred, Rosanna, and Anna…

Who knows?

Someday I might get an e-mail or a comment on my blog just like Ron did.

This is the only reason why I wrote this soap opera.

So let’s recap…

Fabien Sauvé married three times unless this person who posted a message in 2000 knows something we don’t know…

Hi Deborah,

Fabien Sauve is my great-grandfather. His daughter Blanche from his fourth marriage was my grandmother.

I have some information but not everything.

Fourth marriage!

Remember we are never 100% sure.

Tuna what…?

Two more to go…

Yesterday we saw that Fabien Sauvé had been married to Victorine Houle.

Fabien remarried in 1891 with Marie-Eveline Lanthier. In my search I also saw Ibeline and Obéline as a given name.

I only found one daughter of this couple:

Rosanna Sauvé, daughter of Fabien Sauvé and Obéline (sic) Lanthier who married Omer Poirier in 1917.

In the first episode, we saw that in the 1901 Canadian census we had these people…

Sauve Fabien?     M           Head     M     Jan 26     1851     50
Sauve Lola     F           Wife     M     Mar       1864     37

Rosanna is said to have been born in 1892.

Since Fabien remarried in 1891, we must then assume that Hanah (Anna?) born in 1889 was from his second marriage with Obéline Lanthier.

Rosanna is Anna’s sibling just as Albert, Alfred and Lucia.

Honora would be from the third marriage with Sophie André.

What I found out in my never ending research is not an “Honora” Sauvé but an Honoré Sauvé who was born in 1900 and who died in 1951.

Honoré Sauvé married Rosanna Brunet in 1923.

Did the enumerator make a mistake in the 1901 census?

Quite possible.

Anyways, next time we will concentrate on the third marriage and answer all the questions Ron had about his great-grandfather’s friend who was Euclide Depatie’s godfather.

- Julie my dearest one, I wonder if people kept these precious marriage pictures?
- How should I know…
Stay tuned Honoré…

One life to live…

Life is too short, but not this article…

I wonder if Ron noticed the name Pierre put on his bulldozer…

You should know that in a soap opera the more the writer keeps you on your toes, the more you keep coming back for more…

and the more soap you buy…

And there is a lot more soap coming your way…

Her name was Lola…
She was a showgirl…

In my never ending quest for Fabien Sauvé after Ron got my genealogy bulldozer going, I found that Fabien Sauvé was really married three times.

Fabien first married Marie Louise Victorine Houle in 1874 in St-Polycarpe, Quebec, which is Ron’s favourite Canadian province…

Go figure…

St-Polycarpe church in St-Polycarpe, near the Ontario border

I found that Fabien and Victorine had at least seven children: Anna, Napoléon, Hector, Jérémie, Georges Auguste, Joseph and little Victorine.

This is what I found about Napoléon Sauvé…

I also found this message posted on a genealogy forum…

Fabien Sauve and Marie-Louise Houle.
I have them as living in Glengarry Quebec around 1904 to at least 1913
I have the names and marrages of three of their children:
1) Joseph married in Chelmsford Ont. 22-08-1904 to Eva Rheaume daughter of Timothee and Melina Massie of S. Marthe
2) Jeremiah married in Chel. Ont. 03-02-1913 to Marie-Ange Rheaume sister of Eva
3) Napoleon married in Chel.Ont 07-01-1913 to Corinne Robillard daughter of Elzar and Pomela Rose Leroux of Les Cedres Quebec.

But I found much more on Napoléon, but I would have to write a spin-off blog from  this soap opera with what I found out… unless Ron asks me of course…

As for Hector Sauvé, he was born in 1882.

Name: Joseph Hector Sauve

In this census Fabien is now called Tabeau and Victorine has become Victoria…

Go figure…

Georges Auguste Sauvé was born around 1884 and died in Seattle in 1959.

In this census Fabien and Louise got their given names right…

Moving right along… Joseph Sauvé married Eva Rhéaume…

1) Joseph married in Chelmsford, Ontario. 22-08-1904 to Eva Rheaume daughter of Timothee and Melina Massie of S. Marthe

and Jérémie Sauvé married Eva’s sister…

2) Jeremiah married in Chelmsford, Ontario. 03-02-1913 to Marie-Ange Rheaume sister of Eva

Little Victorine Sauvé married Joséphus Sauvé, son of Prosper Sauvé and Victoire Carrière.

Here we see Josephus in the 1881 Canadian census…

Prosper Sauvé’s family in 1881

As for Anna Sauvé, I could not find anything more on her.

Maybe she became a nun or died young.

You see what I mean…

This will never stop… and I have two more marriages to go…

Pierre, I just can’t get enough of all this…
Honoré my beloved husband…

Would you watch my cheese macaroni on the stove…?

We are never completely 100% sure…

Remember Fabien Sauvé?

Ron told me in a comment on my blog that Fabien Sauvé was his great-grandfather’s friend.

That’s what he said…

Well I thought it was going to go like this on Fabien, IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER, THE SON, THEN POOF INTO THE HOLY GHOST he would go, but I see the good man of the cloth of genealogy on this blog has him in his book.

I will stay close and see what happens to my great-grandfather’s friend Fabien Sauve.

Ron Belisle Depatie

Here’s Leon with his wife Sophranie André.

Oups, sorry wrong picture file…
That’s Ron with his bulldozer…

Here’s Léon…

Léon’s family

I think I discovered a whole lot more about Léon’s friend, but I am not 100% sure.

You see I found some information about one Fabien Sauvé who was married to at least two more women… Marie-Eveline Lanthier and Victorine Houle.

What I also found is one Fabien Sauvé living in Lancaster, Ontario in 1901 and 1911.

What’s that Lola doing there?

It should be Sophie André or something like that…

That’s more like it…

Sophie’s back, but now Fabien is born in 1861!

Never trust a census 100%…

Anyway, come back later for more.

As I said to Ron…

When we start looking for something, then we find a lot of new things that lead us to new things that open a lot of doors… and it goes on and on and on and on…

It never stops…

Stay tuned…

Honoré my dear, you didn’t forget to program the VCR didn’t you…?

Ron’s Boxing Day

Ron is reading this blog as if it was the Bible…

When you start reading my blog, you can’t stop finding so many things that enlighten your life. One of these is the Sauvé story and Odette Clouthier, my 4th cousin twice removed.

You see Ron Depatie knows he has some Sauvés in his family, and he was justifiably intrigued…

This is what Ron sent me just before Christmas…

and I was justifiably intrigued…

It was small but I could zoom in and read it.

Click on the image to zoom in

So Ron turned to me for guidance in all this…

So here goes…

This one’s for you Ron…

It’s on the house…

What we have here is the baptism act of Joseph Euclide Depatie son of Léon Depatie and Sophronie André.

Joseph Euclide Depatie, or call him Euclide for short, was born on December 23, 1913 and baptized on December 25.

Fabien Sauvé and Sophie André are Euclide’s godparents.

Ron wanted to know more about Fabien Sauvé…

So here I go…

Fabien Sauvé married Sophie André on September 21, 1897, in St-Télesphore, Soulanges, in the province of Quebec. That’s a village close to the Ontario border.

for the source click here

A view of St-Polycarpe church, it was built between 1834 and 1839.
It is located at 1256 Chemin de l’Eglise in the city of Saint-Polycarpe.

Fabien was a widower so I don’t have his parents’ names on the marriage act.

But I have a lead with his former wife’s name… Obéline Lanthier.

I found a marriage of one Fabien Sauvé with a Marie-Eveline Lantier in St-Polycarpe in 1891. This Fabien was also a widower.

Is it the same Fabien?

Stay tuned because the genealogy store is full of customers…

Merry Christmas

My friend Ron Depatie sent me this early Christmas card.

He found his roots this summer.

I just added a caption on top…

My great-great-grandparents also want to wish you a Merry Christmas…

Merry Christmas to all our descendants… And we sure have a lot of them…

Click and put on your glasses…

I would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and share this e-mail from Odette…

Hello,

I would like to wish you an early Merry Christmas, as I will out of the office for the rest of the week and be unable to do so.

To my dear extended family, I wish you the merriest Christmas.  In my heart, Christmas is more then just gifts, but sharing memories, and  spending time with family.  They are more permenant then any store bought gift that you get. It is because those memories keep with you throughout the years and warm your heart all year long.

So, when I sit down on Christmas day,  you will all be with me, because you are my family, no matter how distant.

Love always,

Odette S. Clouthier

There is something more that I would like to share…, but only a few will understand…

Merry Christmas Michael…
